Bach Cantata

We had this event scheduled for March, but had to postpone due to the pandemic. We are pleased to now be able to present to you the first in a series of Bach Cantatas.

The Netherlands is a country that loves Bach. Nowhere else are Cantatas and Passions by Bach performed more often than in Dutch concert halls and churches. In collaboration with King’s College London and the Dutch Church, we are now bringing this Dutch tradition of Bach Cantatas to London.

The piece – Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott – will be performed by vocalists from King’s College and Dutch Church Organist Anne Page and conducted by Joseph Fort, Director of the Chapel Choir and Lecturer in Music at King’s College London. We are proud to have renowned British composer Judith Weir CBE opening the evening – read more about Judith below.

Judith Weir CBE is a lifelong enthusiast of J S Bach’s music. In 2014 she was the first woman to be appointed Master of The Queen’s Music, a 400-year old royal appointment. She has frequently written music for national occasions, including the Queen’s 90th birthday and the UK’s official commemoration of the 1918 Armistice. Her operas and orchestral music are performed around the world, and she is well-known for her work with choirs of all kinds, including the BBC Singers and King’s College Choir, Cambridge.Event Details:Date: 22 October 2020
