Hot on the heels of its UK premiere, we are thrilled to be able to screen multi-award winning and Oscar nominated feature Sweet Dreams. This sharp and beautifully acted and shot satire of Dutch colonial times in Indonesia stars renowned actress Renée Soutendijk, who is supported by a fine cast of Dutch and Indonesian actors.
Set in the early 1900s, the story revolves around the tumultuous events triggered by the death of Dutch sugar plantation owner who ends up leaving his Indian Ocean island estate to his young illegitimate son – the child of his Indonesian housemaid.
Sweet Dreams is written and directed by Bosnian-Dutch filmmaker Ena Sendijarevic.
